Pastor Dean is a graduate of Wheaton College. After graduating from Gordon
Divinity School in 1966 he was commissioned in the United States Navy as a Chaplain. He
served four years on active duty. He became the School Minister at The Peddie School in
1970. From 1976-1991 he served as the Dean of Students at Gordon-Conwell
Seminary. During this time he served as an interim pastor at several churches in New
England, while maintaining his status as a Chaplain in the Naval Reserve. He retired from
the Navy in 1994 after 28 years of service. He has served The First
Church as Senior Pastor since 1992.
